First Presbyterian Church is a growing family of faith located in the center of Alameda. Reflecting our community,
the congregation includes long-time Alamedans and newer citizens, retired civic leaders and younger professionals,
single adults and ever more families with children of all ages.
We are a friendly church, committed to supporting each other in Christian faith and faithful living in Christ´s name.
We gather for worship, learning, and fellowship every Sunday morning and often in between. Every guest receives a
warm welcome and an invitation to get involved. Since children are especially important in our mission, we have
developed strong interactive curricula from pre-school through teens, taught by dedicated volunteers and our Youth
Director. Adult groups offer timely study of the Bible and life issues.
Testimonials
"FPCA is a warm and welcoming church. The congregation welcomed us the very first day and spent time to really
get to know us. Now that I am 3,000 miles from my husband and children, I know that my family is healthy, safe and well fed.
- K.W. (Coast Guard)"
"We always look for a Church when we transfer as one of the first items on our "to do" list. I have always believed that
if you seek you will find. When we walked into the sanctuary for the first time we knew this was the place for us.
Family worship is one of the most important pieces of the spiritual puzzle and FPCA is the exact fit we as a "mobile
military family" were looking for. We cherish the relationships we have built so far and look forward to making many more.
Thanks for including us in your Church family!" - RTW
"First Alameda Presbyterian Church is like the old TV sitcom "Cheers". They
always know your name, and they are always glad you came. There is something
for everyone and lots of opportunities to participate in a warm and
forgiving environment." - N.H.
"A place where God is honored, where God is important to the people, the people are friendly and the growing church family
is inclusive of all who enter our doors. I'm excited about what we are doing and like being here and watching our church
family evolve weekly." - D.D.
"First Presbyterian Church of Alameda has renewed my belief in the power of being part of an extended family of faith.
To be in fellowship with a body of believers has been a blessing to me and my family. I even met my husband at a church
wine tasting event!" - K.S.
"We showed up at 1st Pres the first Sunda in Jan 1992 and never looked back. We felt no need to continue our search - we were
home... One of the coolest things is Parents' Nite Out. (Every so often our church children drop in for an
evening of activities and dinner while parents have a much needed night out.) It is truly a Godsend - it gives us a break
but also we get the pleasure of working in teams with other parents which is a great way to get to know each other better!" - S. R.
"The biggest reason we joined First Pres. was how welcoming they were. They welcomed us with open hands. Pastor Jack
gave me time to adjust to church life and to open up to him. Now to see how the children's programs have really taken off is
amazing." - G.G.
"First Presbyterian Church of Alameda has made me feel very welcome and useful. How so? I have served as Men's Association
President, on the Personnel Committee, as a scripture reader, and sound technician, and I'm a Roman Catholic! Come see us in
action." - C.C.
